We will leave Terrmar in Islamorada Fl. at Plantation Yacht
Harbour for a visit home and to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.
Terri had a lot packed into the six weeks we were home, and had warned me that
I had a lot to do and that time would fly. She was correct on both counts and
we were soon on a plane back to Florida. But in the meantime, it appeared as
though my life was one shopping trip after another in preparation for the return
of our four daughters and their families. Terri and I shopped for groceries
until I was literally ready to drop. Remember that we have been away boating
for months and the cupboards were bare. We made multiple trips with over
flowing carts and crowds that seemed endless. Not counting our own daily groceries,
but the groceries required to sustain the masses as they all descended upon us
for multiple Christmas dinner celebrations. I am sure the house could not have
fit another person as we were close to the breaking point. We had 21 people for
dinner on Boxing Day. It was a truly joyous Christmas to remember!
OUR PLAN
We are writing this blog for one reason and one reason only. To provide a vehicle to make it easier to remain in touch with our family and friends back home.
Our plan is simple. Depart our home port of Goderich, Ontario in the Summer of 2011. Cruise Georgian Bay and the North Channel of Lake Huron while visiting some of the ports and anchorages we have missed over the years. As well as revisiting some of our favourite haunts hopefully with some of our very good friends with whom we have cruised with many times before. All the while adding up the miles and gaining experience with our new trawler. Our first and only self imposed deadline is to be in the Chicago area around Labour Day. South of Chicago, weather and circumstances will guide us!
