We are back on a plane and returning to Florida and Terrmar.
We are looking forward to our next port of call and continuing our journey. Islamorada
had been a nice, safe harbour and a good place to leave Terrmar but it was
time to do some boating. The plan was to fly into Miami and rent a car and then
drive the 90 miles back to the boat. On the way we would stop and pick up groceries
for that night and the next morning. Then the next day we would head back up
the keys and go to the larger Publix in Key Largo and stock up on all of the
bulky heavy goods. The car that we rented was a Ford Mustang and while it was
nice to drive it had very little cargo space and required two trips for
groceries. The next day we returned the car and took a taxi back to the Marina.
We were now true cruisers again with only our bicycles and
shoe leather to rely upon to get us around. While this location was beautiful
it was isolated and planning was required for any journey. We had a choice to
make. We had the chance to stay here longer or move up the keys to another more
convenient location. We have been here since Nov. 15 2012 and Terri and I
agreed that we should move on.
While we went home to celebrate Christmas our Boat
neighbors Frank and Dianne who sailed aboard “Kama Kat” watched over our boat.
They boarded it regularly and checked all the systems. We had left the air
conditioning on to ward off the humidity. They would send us an email once in a
while assuring us that all was well. Any boater knows the value of this kindness
and how it gives you piece of mind. Frank and Dianne thank you so much.
