The Florida weather has been a wonderful
tonic and after a very uneventful and pleasant cruise, we arrived in St. Petersburg
City Marina midafternoon. This port has
been a pleasant surprise. The service
and reasonable dockage was very much appreciated so we decided to stay for 7
days. Lots to explore here and we did
just that! Smudge and I enjoyed the 7
miles of beautiful scenic waterfront walking-biking parks. St. Petersburg has a vibrant downtown with
lots of excellent outdoor patio restaurants, museums and a convenient “Publix”
grocery store a short bike ride from the marina.
Super bowl Sunday was enjoyed in the
company of Bonnie and Charlie aboard Sonata, but Mark and I were exhausted and at half time – after
viewing all the multimillion dollar commercials we said good night.
I have to mention a special thank you to
Bonnie for suggesting we bike 37 city blocks to go shopping at the “Stein
Mart”. I have to admit, I had never
heard of Stein Mart, but as it turned out, it has become my favorite
store! What a treat, after being
accustomed in the Great White North, to very limited selections of fashions in 3
basic colours – grey, black or brown. We
are indeed living “aboard” in Paradise!
