We would arrive a little late in Florence as we had quite a fog delay leaving Grand Harbor. This city was also high on our list as there was shopping promised. Terri needed a fix! The marina was very well situated and close to down town and most of the attractions. Terri also wanted to go out to dinner at the Marriotte Hotel which like Chicago had a restaurant at the top of the tower. Only this restaurant rotated for a city wide view.

REVOLVING RESTAURANT |
DRESSED UP AND DEFINITELY SOME WHERE TO GO |
BRIDGE ACCROSS THE TENNESSEE RIVER |
SAME BRIDGE SHOWING A TUG ENTERING THE LOCK ON THE LEFT SIDE. WE WOULD TRAVERSE THE SAME LOCK IN A DAY OR TWO. |
THE WATER GLASS AT THE RESTAURANT WAS TILTED LIKE THIS ON PURPOSE. I DON'T GET IT EITHER. |
THE HEAD CHEF (LOOKING THIS WAY) RAN A TIGHT SHIP AND IT SHOWED. THE MEAL WAS PERFECT FOR TERRI. IT WAS A TEST OF THE FALL MENU THAT THEY WOULD USE FOR THANKSGIVING AND IT CAME WITH A DIFFERENT WINE SAMPLE FOR EACH OF THE FIVE COURSES. |
WE VISITED THE BIRTHPLACE OF HELEN KELLER. THIS WAS A REAL HIGHLIGHT FOR TERRI. |
THIS IS THE PUMP THAT HELEN KELLER MADE SUCH A BREAK THROUGH WITH AS SHE RECOGNIZED WHAT WATER WAS AND HOW TO COMMUNICATE THIS. "THE MIRACLE WORKER" IS THE MOVIE THAT SO ELEQUENTLY PORTRAYS THIS MOMENT. A MOVING EXPERIENCE! |
SAME PUMP |
THE STAFF LIKED US FOR SOME REASON AND INVITED US IN BEHIND THE BARRIER FOR A PICTURE OF THE ORIGINAL DINING ROOM |
THIS IS THE COTTAGE WHERE SHE WAS BORN AND WHICH LATER WOULD BECOME HER SCHOOL HOUSE. |
TERRI EVEN FOUND TIME FOR A HAIR CUT. LOOKING GOOD! |
